Senior draughtsperson Dorrie Young will be demonstrating the craft of traditional hand-draughting throughout the day at Set & Scene. Working live at the drawing board, Dorrie will showcase the precision, clarity and beauty of pencil draughting, a skill that remains central to many art departments despite the rise of computer-aided design.

Alongside examples from her own work and reference materials, Dorrie will be completing a drawing on site, offering visitors the chance to observe the process up close and discuss the techniques behind it. At scheduled moments during the day, she will also share insights into the role of the draughtsperson within film production, explaining how drawings translate designers’ ideas into the practical plans used to build sets.

This informal demonstration offers a rare opportunity to see the craft behind the drawings that help bring cinematic worlds to life.
