Claire graduated from BA Textiles at Goldsmiths in 2005, during this time she developed a curiosity for telling stories through the body and textiles. After graduation Claire discovered a strange and extraordinary branch of costume called ‘textile effects’ – this involves producing effects on costumes such as; mud, blood, slime, diseased skin, vomit – the list goes on! She also dyes and prints fabric and can invent or replicate any textile. In 2012 she took a year of costume to undertake an AHRC research masters in Scenography at CSSD, during this time she explored creative ways to both use and misuse textile application, this lead to a job at National Theatre London where she now manages the textile team.
“At the National we creatively challenge textile process on a daily basis and have now began exploring the world of natural dyes. This exciting area of alchemy presented her with new materials and chemicals to master and challenge with sustainability being at the core.”
