Danny and Agnes Lennon started Footprint Scenery 21 years ago with the aim of improving sustainable practices in the entertainment industry.
The starting point for our practice is working from a building with low carbon impact. All the energy we use to produce our work comes from 100% renewable energy (around 40% of which is supplied by solar panels on the roof of our unit). Our vehicles are 100% electric and our team can freely charge their electric vehicles too.
We refrain from using solvent based paints and have been developing a waste water cleaning system in our workshop to cut down our water consumption and to prevent plastic-based paint waste escaping into our waterways
We use sustainable materials when and where possible and remain competitive, cost-wise, while doing so.
We are fervent supporters of Theatre Green Book and Danny chaired the ABTT Sustainability Committee in 2024 and 2025. Danny and Agnes have widely contributed to the ongoing conversations around sustainability in our industry hosting symposiums and talking at events. Danny teaches sustainable scenic construction at GSA (Guildford School of Acting) and has contributed to academic papers on the subject of sustainability in theatre.
