Lorelle Aboagye

Lorelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Illustration and a Master of Arts in Textile Design from Norwich University of the Arts. Her interests focus on visual storytelling, natural dyes, and textile processes and with her own practice she explore west African textiles through weaving. Lorelle’s dedication to preserving traditional West African textiles led her to explore natural dyes and ultimately led her to the National Theatre Dye Garden. There, she encountered a variety of plants, she was particularly drawn to thecindigo . What captivated her most was observing the textile artists at the National Theatre, their commitment to sustainable textile practices, and their willingness to share knowledge about natural dyes. She immediately recogniseed that this was the environment she needed to be in, as it aligns perfectly with her passions and interests.

Lorelle aims to utilise her skills developed during the traineeship to contribute positively to the advancement of a sustainable theatre industry.
